Anwil SA situated in Włocławek, is one of the most modern chemical companies in Poland. It produces polyvinyl chloride in an integrated way (starting from ethylene and brine), sodium hydroxide (sodium lye and granulated) and nitrogen fertilisers.
In January 2006 a modernised chlorine and sodium hydroxide production plant started up. The technology was changed from diaphragm into membrane one. Currently the company is one of very few ones in Central Europe, and the only one in Poland producing chlorine and sodium hydroxide by a membrane method.
After a fire which destroyed chlorine production unit the company announced on 29th of June the state of force majeure. In aim to decrease limitations of PVC and sodium hydroxide deliveries to customers the company have increased production in Czech plant Spolana, which belongs to Anwil Group, to the maximum extend and also took decision to import raw materials for PVC polymerisation unit, which works well.
The same day, 29th of June the president and CEO of Anwil Mr. Maciej Trojnarski decided to discontinue his post. The Supervisory Board announced that Mr. Remigiusz Paszkiewicz will act as a president of Anwil SA.
