CEE plastic consumption at a glance – what, where?
In the second installation of our Injection Molding study publication series, we are offering an overview of plastic consumption data in the CEE region, including a comparison with Western European figures. The study breaks down CEE plastic consumption by polymer type, and lists the main end-user applications for each polymer type. The chapter also ranks CEE countries according to plastic consumption volume, with Russia and Poland predictably on top.

Russia to flood Europe with PET as Alko-Nafta builds giant plant in Kaliningrad
Russia's Alko-Nafta is set to start construction of a new PET polymer factory with capacity of 240,000 tonnes per year in the city of Kaliningrad in the first half of 2010, news portal eplastics.pl reported.

European Commission Decision on the derogation for plastic crates and plastic pallets in relation to the heavy metal concentration
Article 11 of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (2004/12/EC) foresees that the sum of concentration levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium present in packaging or packaging components shall not exceed the following:
- 600 ppm by weight;
- 250 ppm by weight; and
- 100 ppm by weight.
